A sworn translation is a translation that conforms to the original in its form and content, which is confirmed through an officially appointed and sworn translator. Authorities and courts always ask for sworn translations of documents. Translation of legal papers like for example sentences often must be officially certified. Also employers and educational institutions require sworn translations of international certificates.
Certified translations can be made only by officially appointed and sworn translators (depending on German Federal State they are called beeidigt, ermächtigt or vereidigt).
